Spent last night at home because it was... ta da!!!! Pushing Daisies night!!!
I have heard about this show right when it first came out, but never came around to watching it on their nightly time slots on ABC. I remember watching the promo commercials for this and I was thinking, "wow I should follow that!" But due to the grueling schedule I had for school and work, it only gave me two options 1.) I either had to buy a TiVo machinery (at the time we didn't have one) or 2.)I would just have to wait for it to come out on DVD. Two years later, I got it through the grace of netflix.
Now I had no preconceived notions on what the shows' story was going to be about. I even had the wavering dilemma of losing interest at one point and opt for other movie options on netflix. It still hunted me though, like a blind date stand up, I feel a sense that I made a mistake doing so.
First episode was amazing, I felt as though I was watching something whimsical like a Disney movie, but dark and creepy like a Tim Burton movie. It was a very simple premise, boy has a gift of bringing people to life again, finds that there are negative aspects of this power, and hence tries to limit the use of it. Later he finds that his longtime crush and childhood friend had been murdered in a cruise line heading to Tahiti, calling foul, he sets out to bring her back to find out who killed her. By doing so, he finds that he still loves her and could not bring himself to let her go. Thus the setting of a great premise...

Why ABC? Why the hell would you pull a plug on this great show!!! I mean it had crotch tingling romance, it had suspense and murder, and it had a feel for the original. Even during the writer strikes, the show still stayed afloat. Why!!!!!?
Is it to weired for the general public? It is rather dark and morbid...
Although I am sad for the show to end, I am also glad due to the fact that
Lee Pace is free to do other projects. Pace would also be safe from being a television regular.
I would bet that he would win the academy award in the near future. I have seen him in
Soldier's girl and he did a smashing performance as pre-surgical trans gendered, who fell in love with a a soldier. Watching the film I did not notice that it was him who was playing the role. It was a brilliant movie.
Soooo, anyways....
I am waiting for the rest of the netflix cd's so I can finish season one!!! then I can get season 2 running on my player!!!
cannot wait.
